How long do brake pads last on an Infiniti in the UAE heat?

My Infiniti Q50 is two years old, and at the last service the advisor said the front pads are “getting low” and I should plan to change them soon. He did not say how soon, and I forgot to ask. The car has about forty thousand kilometres, which feels too early to me. I work near ICAD, so I am in stop and go traffic almost every day, and I think that is the reason. I looked online and found a page about Genuine brake pad replacement for Infiniti in ICAD, but it did not tell me how long pads normally last, so I am still guessing. My friend says his pads lasted nearly seventy thousand kilometres on his Camry, so now I wonder if the advisor is just trying to sell me a job. How many kilometres did your pads last on a similar car? Does the heat here make them wear faster? Is there a way to see the thickness myself through the wheel, or do I need the shop to measure it? Also, if the pads are only a little low, can I wait a few more months, or is it risky? What are the warning signs I should not ignore, like noise, a soft pedal or a shaking steering wheel? And how much should a front pad job cost on an Infiniti, so I know if the quote is fair? If you changed yours lately, please tell me what you paid and how long they lasted.
